Emerging from the rabbit hole.
Well... This is scary. I only decided to finally pull the trigger on the game universe I've been cooking in my head for the last 18 years, and start with a game in that universe to gain the experience to build this into something that might support me, and bring some people some joy. I am an Audio Engineer by training. I hold a Bachelors of Music Degree and I am a Masters Candidate, although I have been on a leave of absence from my studies for several years and I don't know if I will ever have the chance to return and finish.
Given that I am an audio guy, and less so a computer scientist, or a visual artist. I have many skills that are not fully developed that are essential in developing a video game. Especially if you are doing it lone wolf style. But others have done it, and as Thor keeps saying (I know you must know who I am talking about) you really don't need anybody's permission to make stuff. SO here I am, making stuff.
Here is a little teaser of where I'm starting, these are rudimentary sprites, not much shading on them because this is just the diffuse layer, and I intend to use normals for realtime shading. And all of these might have better versions made anyway, as they were practice to get me used to being creative with a stylus... something I have never done before.
Keen Hell
What if Phillip K. Dick and Richard Morgan wrote the premise for Stardew Valley?
